Your ad and promos not your competitors. Thanks to the advancements in machine learning for self driving cars, picture and voice recognition, that same technology can be applied for the purpose of detecting tv commercials.

What about DMCA and HDCP?

No copyright infringements here. The KongCast device works similar to an input switch on a TV and we do not touch the broadcast. It does not modify, copy or delay the TV feed. When an ad break is detected the system controls the KongCast device to switch to an alternate source, your ad and promos.

How we do it, the nerdy stuff.

The KongCast board is paired with a Raspberry Pi, which serves as the source for chroma key overlay video, typically rendered by a browser running in full-screen mode. The Raspberry Pi’s unencrypted HDMI video output is fed into the KongCast and sampled into a frame buffer, which is synced to a video feed that’s just passing through the FPGA via HDMI input. This allows the KongCast to encode the Raspberry Pi’s overlay feed so that the Pi’s pixels can be used for a simple “hard overlay” effect. KongCast thus enables applications such as picture slides and ad clips by throwing away regions of source video and replacing it entirely with desired overlay.

This means we have no access to HDMI source pixels, to do even basic video effects such as alpha blending; meaning "see thru effect".

Future Applications for KongCast

Health care

KongCast can be programmed to query a medical device and display the parsed result. This is real, we have it working but we are focusing on tv commercials first. Please have a look.

We are not competing in established video and display signage or dynamic ad insertion for streaming content. But we are open to adding more features as our software develops.
